For the third and final week of the CADCA Academy, I had the pleasure of attending with Allison Gonyo, a prevention educator for Hamilton County. Allison has been a member of the Four Rivers Alliance since its inception in 2011.
During this week, we were able to network with 29 other coalitions across America. There we shared our ideas and past activities. We discussed our challenges and successes. We gained more knowledge of how to make coalitions effective and also learned about other coalitions’ activities and were able to discuss how to adapt them to fit the needs of Hamilton County.
Our instructors largely focused on creating sustainability within our coalitions, both financially and amongst members, and also on creating policies that reflect the needs of the area. With three weeks of the Academy complete, we will continue to work with all of the documents created over this course and prepare to submit them for graduation.
